Late Arrival

Posted: February 18, 2014 in POETRY BY DS

No birds could be heard,
In the trees or the air.
Spring has not arrived,
Fairly late this year.

A little glimmer of hope,
I see green shoots in the dirt.
Maybe it’s starting,
And we’ll have a good year.

The Cold

The freezing toes
The extra clothes
The constant need
To blow my nose
This is why I hate

Balls click, clacking around,
But apart from that,
There’s no other sound.
The break off, the safety shot,
Blue, pink and black,
It’s all about the pot.

Tree (All Along)

First saw you big, strong,
Think you been there all along.
Swishy leaves gold, brown.

Christmas has become the glue,
Exchanging presents from me to you.

I never see you any other time of year,
Card in the post a text message here or there.

I really will despair if you far go this time of year.

Living room bedroom your side and mine,
Milk in the fridge but two different kinds.
You have your tea and then I’ll have mine,
I’m in your out separate all the time.
This is yours and that is mine nothing together,
Not even the thing that tells the time.
I do this and that for you but what do you do for me,
We share a house but not a home.
I may as well live alone…
